On Jan. 31, 2018, The University of Kansas Cancer Center kicked off its new Facebook Live series, Bench To Bedside. Episodes will air weekly through April 2018.
Roy Jensen, MD, hosts a different guest each week to discuss recent advances in cancer research and innovative new therapies. The goal is to provide KU Cancer Center Facebook followers with access to credible information from oncology experts, as well as provide a platform to ask questions. Prior to broadcast, the communications team develops a script and visuals (including pre-taped promotional video) around the topic. Each week, we invite third-party organizations and individuals who may be interested in watching. Broadcasts take place in the Simon’s Broadcast Studio at The University of Kansas Hospital. A moderator reviews and reads comments/questions throughout the broadcast. The entire show lasts about 15- 20 minutes.
As of Feb. 7, two episodes have aired. The most recent episode focused on HPV-related cancers and the HPV vaccination. The video has received a total of 1,296 views, 3,887 people reached and 111 reactions/comments/shares.
