Perlmutter Cancer Center Launches Redesigned Website

NYU Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center has launched a redesigned patient care website to better serve patients, enhance the cancer center’s brand and highlight patient-centered clinical care and support services. The updated site assists users in many ways, including providing patients access to clinical trials related to their diagnosis and current news from the center.

The redesign resulted from a collaboration between NYU Langone Health’s Medical Center Information Technology and digital communications teams, as well as many cancer center physicians and staff. The team met with different teams within the cancer center as well as current and prospective patients and caregivers to learn more about the cancer center’s priorities and the behavior of website users.

Ultimately, a collaboration involving more than 200 NYU Langone employees made the launch of this site possible.

At launch, faculty and staff were asked to get to know the new website and use it in their everyday work, noted Perlmutter Cancer Center Director Benjamin G. Neel, MD, PhD. “Share it with patients, families and caregivers, colleagues, work and business associates, and other key cancer center stakeholders. This site will help us immeasurably as we strive to become one of the preeminent cancer centers in the country,” he said.

Highlights of the website redesign include a responsive site optimized for all types of devices; an enhanced site search and “Find a Cancer Doctor” search; a mega-menu with links to key content throughout the site, accessible from every page of the site; news that automatically feeds into the homepage and condition guides so users can stay up-to- date with the latest news; and clinical trials that are automatically fed onto the condition guides so users can see clinical trials associated with each type of cancer.
